Kelly Soltis was born and raised outside of Trenton, New Jersey. She moved to Philadelphia after high-school to attend the Univeristy of the Arts, where she studied Photography and Art Therapy. Soltis was drawn to photography as a way to "show how I saw the world and what I found to be beautiful and important." Soltis uses photography as a way to explore and understand her surroundings. When asked about her experience and her artwork, she responded, "My float experience was very nostalgic. Once I got used to this new feeling I found myself thinking of my past and memories that I have long since forgotten and far away lands that I may never visit again. I felt alone, at peace and yet overwhelmed with thoughts that my mind, during the day, does not have time for. Thinking back on images and places that I have felt connected to and have kept me rooted throughout the years, I felt as if I could finally stand still for a moment."
